DTJJ Kids Compete at US Grappling Richmond

US Grappling Richmond

US Grappling RichmondDave Trader Jiu-Jitsu kids team competed at US Grappling Richmond on Saturday, June 21!

DTJJ Kids Team members Nathanael Wilson, Dillon Combs-Blake, and Rachel Wilson traveled to Ashland, VA for a shot at gold on Saturday.  All of the kids fought extremely well, showing a lot of desire and heart!

Nathanael placed 1st in the 9 year old Advanced No-Gi division and 2nd in the Advanced Gi division.  Nathanael fought very well making good use of his half guard in both the gi and no-gi.  He also showed a tremendous amount of heart in the semi-finals of the gi when his opponent shot a tight armbar with just seconds to go in the match.  Excellent job Nathanael!

Dillon took home double gold, placing 1st in both the 14 year old Intermediate Gi and No-Gi divisions.  Dillon submitted his opponent in the finals of the no-gi with a beautiful Americana from side control.  Dillon showed superb guard passing skills in his gi division winning all his matches by points.  Awesome job Dillon!

Rachel fought in the beginner gi divison.  Although she did not place, she fought two outstanding matches.  The passion and determination Rachel showed on the mat Saturday was inspiring! Great job Rachel!

Overall the kids brought home 3 gold and 1 silver medal!  We are very proud of all of you who put it on the line and went out to compete.

UPDATE: Team DTJJ Kids is part of the Big Brothers affiliation.  Big Brothers placed second in overall team points in both the adult and juvenile categories in Saturday’s tournament!  Congrats everyone!
